Come On Eileen - Dexy’s Midnight Runners
Posted in: Dexy's Midnight Runners by on September 20, 2008
Is it just me, or did everyone assume these guys were Irish? Nope, British. Must’ve been all that tu-rah-teh-looh-rah that threw me off. The band was formed by Kevin Rowland (vocals, guitar) and Kevin Archer (vocals, guitar) in 1979. The band’s name actually comes from a street drug that was popular at the time called Dexedrine. Although the band enjoyed success throughout the ’80s on their side of the pond, America was unfortunate enough to dance to only one big hit: Come on Eileen.
